Walking around Britain

Walking around Britain

Whatever type of walking you enjoy from moderate coastal walks with the children, to long distance or hill and mountain walking in wilderness areas, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland can cater for all these needs. Walking brings you into the heart of the natural world with insights into the countryside, scenery and weather, and with the opportunity for observing wildlife and revitalising your senses. Walking enjoyable fun for the whole family

Walking is not just for the lovely summer days but is a year round activity and an interesting way to keep fit. Whether you are considering an active walking holiday or a few walks within your planned holiday there is something for everyone.

For more serious walkers National Parks including Brecon Beacons and the Lake District provide some of the best walking with well developed footpaths which are generally well marked. Because of the areas covered by these parks the routes are very scenic and can be challenging in mountainous areas. Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty such as the Chilterns and the Pennines are also ideal areas for walking again with wonderful views.

These can be found throughout England, Scotland and Wales. National Trails like the Norfolk Coast Path and the South Downs Way are long distance footpaths for either extended walking or smaller circular routes.
