Courtmacsherry County Cork Ireland
This lovely village sits in the tranquil and scenic Courtmacsherry Bay, on the West Cork coast. It is the ideal place to relax and unwind. This was formerly the summer home of the Earl of Shannon and in the Victorian times became a holiday destination for people of Cork City

The bay is a good venue for water sports including wind surfing and there are also for the less adventurous some sandy coves you can swim from.
There are coast guard cottages on the hill overlooking the bay and there is also a lifeboat station here manned by volunteers from the village. At the upper harbour of the bay stands the ruins of Timoleague Abbey.
It is a walking and bird watching paradise, with thousands of migrant birds coming to the bay in spring and autumn. There are walking routes over the Seven Heads with its dramatic and wild scenery. Also close by horse riding is available and there are four golf courses within easy reach including the famous Old Head Golf Links at Kinsale.
